Special Feature: Products Sally Recommends

Patricia Neisser

Pat (acrx42a@prodigy.com) is seriously afflicted with the travel bug. She has been roaming the world for more than 25 years seeking out the most exciting spots on remote islands, in the South Pacific, in Australia's bush country, beyond deepest Africa, on sailing ships, outriggers, enormous cruise ships and French canal barges, visiting more than 100 countries along the way.

She has eaten wichitty grubbs, bananas in brandy over a fire in Kenya, the best of French cuisine and the worst of Masai stew. She has been in more ocean gales than Dramamine could handle and still loves to go to sea. Pat never misses a chance to try a new restaurant, a new inn or hotel, and is ready with passport and duffel to go anywhere anytime.

She has honed her skills in television interviewing, feature writing, and photography, including a six-year host position on a television series for the British Government (Focus on Britain). A White House Correspondent and reporter for a local TV station, an award-winning travel journalist for Orange Coast Magazine and other publications, Pat writes for local publications in Southern California (she lives in Newport Beach), as well as for newspapers and magazines as far away as Dubai. A serious contemporary art collector with her husband, Carl, she also writes on the art world. She has recently written for Fodor's Caribbean guide, Rand McNally's travel Guide to Southern California, Windows to the World and Writers At Work. She is a member of International Food, Wine and Travel Writers Association, North American Travel Journalists, Ski Journalists of North America and other professional groups.

Pat has been an appointed commissioner for the Orange County Protocol Commission for the past 12 years and is also Vice-President of the International Visitor and Protocol Foundation of Orange County. It is the official agency for all State Department sponsored international visitors to Orange County. Pat and her husband host 50-60 of these visitors each year, and often visit them during travel assignments.

Pat obtained her BA in English at Mills College in Oakland, and added graduate credits at UC Irvine in Theatre Arts.
