Utilizing techniques inspired by classic culinary craftsmanship, Gather (across the street from the University of California at Berkeley), features produce, seafood, and humanely-raised meats that showcase the uniquely abundant environment of Northern California- with 50% vegetarian offerings and a full bar focused on organic cocktails plus sustainable California wines chosen by Christir Dufault of Gary Danko fame. Located in the David Brower Center- home to some of the nation’s top environmental organizations- their “beyond green” design utilizing reclaimed wood, leather, glass and more has proven to be as much a  hit as the seasonal farm fare of chef  Sean Baker since the day they opened.

Focusing on the sweet spot of each season, Gather’s  menu includes the highest quality house cured charcuterie, mouth-watering crudo creations, and honest farm and ranch fare. Small Plates (priced from $8 to $14) might include Crispy Cardoons with Almond Pepper Sauce and Grilled Scallion Salsa; Watermelon Radish and Turnip Salad with Wild Arugula and Roasted Walnuts; or Monterey Bay Squid with Leek Tomato Ragout, Cannellini Beans, Mint, and Housemade Sausage;. Daily changing organic pizzas ($12 to $17) might include Tomato with Olive, Oregano, and Cashew Puree; a vegetarian blend of Chanterelles, Kale, and Mozzarella or a classic House Made Pepper Sausage. Mendocino Nori-Smoked Raw Albacore with Grapefruit and Farm Chili Puree is but one likely coastal preparation, while Pork Cheeks with Polenta and Baby Escarole; and a House Burger With Melted Farm Cheddar, Aioli, and Caramelized Shallot-Tomato Condiment are just a few of the Large Plates ($12 to $19) that join vegetarian options such as Red Quinoa Risotto with Beech Mushrooms, Sea Palm, Fennel and Baby Leeks

Add Pastry Chef Amy Pearce to the all star cast and Gather is sure to become a destination for those with a sweet tooth. Hazelnut Streusel Cake with Huckleberry Compote and Quince Sorbet and Goat Cheese Panna Cotta with Warm Satsumas and a Pistachio Chocolate Wafer are just a few of the desserts that help to end a meal right..
