The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa
Houston’s only urban resort is nestled on 18 acres of beautifully wooded landscaped acreage. Located 5 minutes from the Galleria, 10 minutes from downtown and a 30 minute drive from each of the two airports (depending on traffic), The Houstonian is a very pleasant place to stay.
The hotel, club and spa, all located on the 18 acres, are each housed in a separate building.
Hotel:
As you drive up to the hotel entrance, notice the Steward Johnson life size sculpture titled "The Judge." The Judge sits on a bench under the porte-cochere and elsewhere on the property, near The Houstonian Club, a woman gardening is leaning over amidst the landscape. Entering the hotel you see the Great Room Lobby ahead with comfortable chairs and couches. The décor is pure Texas style. The focal point of the room is a two story 30 foot fireplace with a floor to ceiling mantle, always decorated for the seasons and various holidays.
There are 280 guest rooms on 4 floors. The top level houses the key accessed Concierge Floor with daily continental breakfast, evening cocktails, hors d’ oeuvres, after dinner sweets, business services and a personal concierge. Couches, tables and chairs, television, newspapers and a fireplace help set the scene.
Hotel room amenities include floor to ceiling windows with beautiful wooded views, plush terrycloth robes, in-room safes, complimentary daily newspaper delivery, oversized work desks with dual phone lines, cordless phones and internet access—and don’t forget the 24 hour room service.
Club:
This private fitness club is complementary to hotel guests. Come prepared to enjoy the Houstonian Club facilities. With over 125,000 square feet of health and fitness areas, the club has over 200 state-of-the-art exercise machines, both indoor and outdoor tracks accessible for running and walking and over 100 group exercise classes each week. Whether you are interested in yoga, pilates, tai chi, or martial arts, The Houstonian has it all, including a 20 foot rock climbing wall, basketball courts, 8 outdoor tennis courts and 3 outdoor heated swimming pools.
There is also a kid’s club. The Kid’s Gym at The Houstonian Club provides supervised play for children ages 6-12 complete with an indoor climbing structure, games and arts and crafts. The Bungalow is The Club’s on-site daycare for ages 6 weeks to 5 years which allows guests to utilize child care for up to three hours at a time.
Spa:
Trellis, the Spa at The Houstonian, is a large (17,000 square feet), two story facility. Relax in one of their lounges, one with a fireplace, before and after your treatment. In their 19 treatment rooms services such as aromatherapy, hydrotherapy, vichy (Vichy Rainfall Shower body treatments features seven showerheads extended over a massage table allowing the therapist to exfoliate the skin and rinse off products thoroughly and therapeutically ), makeovers, hair services, massages, manicures, pedicures, facials, and bath and body treatments are offered. Custom services are available for men, women and couples.
Golf:
Although not on site, golf can be arranged for you 30 minutes away at the Redstone Golf Club in Humble, Texas.
Dining:
Olivette is located in the hotel and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Regional American food is offered in a Mediterranean setting.
The Manor House, a separate building and once the home to former President George Bush, is open for lunch Monday-Friday and available for corporate events and wedding rehearsals.
While working out at the Club you can enjoy healthy, light fare such as fruit smoothies, sandwiches and other nutritious items at The Center Court Café.
Food and drink are also available at The Gazebo by the pool in the summer and guests enjoy meeting at The Bar in the hotel adjacent to the Great Room Lobby.
