September creates a Change of Seasons and a Change of Tastes
As seasons change, so do our tastes. Ice cream, watermelon, picnics and beach parties give way to winter squash, crock-pot meals and school lunches. Although 98% of school districts in the U.S. now offer fresh fruits and vegetables at lunch (according to a national survey of school food-service directors), school lunches are still a challenge for many mothers and fathers. School food is getting better thanks, in part, to the work of culinary campaigners like California's Alice Waters and British chef Jamie Oliver. We have 10 recipes (on the left), using various winter squashes, that your children will hopefully enjoy in their school lunches and you are sure to like for healthy family meals. Enjoy the beginning of fall and be sure and check out the coupon from flowerpetal.com at the very bottom of this eNewsletter.
All the best in food, wine, and travel.
Happy September,
