Former executive chef Philippe Jeanty, who left Domaine Chandon after 20 years, is going back to basics at his new Yountville-based Bistro Jeanty. Located in the space that was the Brickhaus for many years , he's created a homey 80 seat place with two dining rooms, a small wine bar and outdoor seating. Many of Jeanty's signature dishes are on the menu: his tomato soup in puff pastry; a cassoulet and his wonderful beef cheek dish. All the desserts including the creme brulees and fruit tarts are irresistable. And unlike Domaine Chandon these dishes are at bistro prices. The wine list is mostly Napa, with a few "intruders" while good wines are available at approachable prices.
