From the minute you enter this small, 16 table restaurant you are greeted with Indian music and a smile. The white tablecloths and festive black and gold vests from Pakistan that the waiters wear lend a festive atmosphere. You can see the meat filled skewers hanging near the tandoori oven in the back of the restaurant. My drink of choice is the cold mango lassi, a mixture of mango and yogurt. Masala chai tea with milk, cardamom, cinnamon and fennel is also on the menu. Begin with samosas made with potatoes and peas or the assorted tandoori plate. Tandoori chicken is available in a half or full order and you can request white meat/dark meat only. Chicken, lamb, seafood and vegetarian specialties complete the menu. The vegetarian thali is small portion of papadum, dal, rice, raita (a yogurt palate cleanser), palak paneer, mixed vegetables, naan and salad ($12.95). Desserts are the traditional kheer (Indian rice pudding), gulab jamun (sweetened cheese dumplings), kulfi (Indian ice cream) and mango ice cream.
