TV Food Network
What fun I had recently! While in New York City I appeared live on the TV Food Network. This is the only cable network devoted to food and food-related topics. TVFN's 24-hour a day programming features everything there is to know about food -- cooking, dining, news, talk and health.
The network was created in 1993 through a partnership of major media companies. While not all cities in the US receive TVFN, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Knoxville and Honolulu do, as well as a myriad of smaller cities.
Some of the food experts and personalities that appear on TVFN are: Julia Child, Robin Leach, Debbie Fields, Nathalie Dupree, Emeril Lagasse, Alan Richman, Graham Kerr and Jacques Pepin.
The programming is diverse. There are segments called: "Getting Healthy," "Meals Without Meat," "Feeding Your Family on $99 A Week," "How To Boil Water" and "Food News and Views."
It was this last segment for which I was interviewed. Hosts Donna Hanover and David Rosengarten do a nightly report on what's hot in the world of food. And, of course, Sally's Place and the Internet are both HOT topics!
My total TV experience consisted of a cameraman and a reporter coming to our hotel in the morning to interview Stan and me for the evening segment. We were asked questions about our backgrounds, origin of our Internet site and the content of the site. Sally's Place was taped from our laptop computer in the hotel room. That same night I arrived at the studio and was whisked into the hair and make-up room -- what fun! Then into the studio for the "live" portion. Both Donna Hanover and David Rosengarten asked questions as Sally's Place was shown to the TV audience. Our URL address was shown on the television screen. Before I knew it, it was over and my 15 minutes of fame had passed!
