There are a few strong reasons why the casino industry has been around for so long. Of course, one of the top ones must be the draw of casino games, which have been enjoyed by players for centuries.

But the casino marketplace can be a profitable one, with many casinos generating quite a significant sum for their offering.

In this article we showcase some of the top-earning casinos in the world — and the ones you might want to check out if you’re a fan of casino games.

Melcro Crown Entertainment

Launched back in 2004, Melcro Crown Entertainment own and operate numerous casinos across Europe and Asia, with their first being the stunning Altira Macau which opened in 2007.

From there on, Melcro Crown Entertainment have continued to open casinos across both continents, and as a result have generated a revenue of $5.74 billion. Alongside their casinos, they’re currently in the process of opening up other entertainment experiences including a ski resort in Japan and an onsen hot springs spa.

Oh, and they’re also in the process of constructing one of the largest casino-resorts in Europe called the City of Dreams Mediterranean which will be located in Cyprus.

Wynn Resorts

Founded in 2002, Wynn Resorts consists of six properties around the world, all the way from Las Vegas, Nevada to Macau. It’s no wonder then that the longstanding company is bringing in some impressive figures in the form of revenue, which at $6.61 billion, will keep their upwards of 30,000 employees in business.

Galaxy Entertainment Group

This casino operator has a particularly interesting position on this list, having been the only one to begin its history as a construction company. Founded in 1988, following a 97.9% acquisition stake in Galaxy Casino, it was the only casino that was located in Hong Kong that held a casino license in Macau. With revenue building at $6.66 billion, that construction company has gone from strength to strength following its pivot to casino operations.

Online casinos

The 1990s internet boom changed so much about the world. One industry where it has had a significant impact is the casino market with many sites specializing on the subject of real money casino games.

The online casino marketplace is growing, and now is becoming a key player in the industry taking in a substantial amount of the profits overall. In the UK alone between April 2020 to March 2021, the gross gambling yield of the online gambling industry generated 6.85 billion GBP.

More people than ever are being enticed away from land-based casinos in favor of the online versions. This is due, in large part, to factors like the variety of games on offer, the convenience of online casino play, lucrative offers and bonuses and so much more. It’s no surprise then that the online casino market is becoming saturated – which benefits players as there’s much more choice than ever before.

Penn National Gaming

Penn National Gaming operates a variety of entertainment experiences across the US including 43 casinos as well as racetracks and raceways. Founded in 1971, the company’s revenue sits at $5.3 billion. They also have a significant stake in Barstool Sports and are currently working in partnership with them on new programs including online betting apps in the states that have legalized them across the country.

Las Vegas Sands

One of the most profitable casinos in the US home for casinos, Las Vegas, is the Las Vegas Sands. With an estimated annual revenue of $13.74 billion, this group of casinos founded in 1989 definitely makes its mark. If that weren’t enough, the operator also owns their very own fleet of private aircrafts to transport their VIP guests.

It’s definitely a not-to-be-missed casino experience if you want to enjoy the best of the best in Las Vegas. They also have several casinos in Macau to enjoy too including The Venetian, The Londoner, Sands Macau and more.

MGM Resorts

MGM Resorts is one of the most profitable casino brands in Las Vegas, which is why it had to make this list. They also own and operate some of the most well-known and visited casinos in the world including the Bellagio, MGM Grand Las Vegas and The Mirage.

With a revenue of $12.9 billion it’s likely they’ll keep building on their entertainment portfolio in order to attract more guests from around the world to their amazing venues.

Caesars Entertainment

Caesars Entertainment had to be on this list, if not for how well-known its name is alone. With an annual revenue of approximately $8.7 billion, it’s no surprise that they’ve become synonymous with casinos. It’s also one of the oldest brands on this list too, having been founded in 1937.

At Caesars Palace in Las Vegas guests can enjoy an extensive range of games, a large number of restaurants, as well as being a venue for sports and music entertainment.  The venue has hosted the likes of Rod Stewart, Cher, Elton John, Bette Midler, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey and so many more.
