family-friendly vacation spots in turkey

Being outside of the Eurozone, but facing the best of the Mediterranean, Turkey is a cost effective place for a sun-filled family holiday. However that is not all that it has to offer. Turkey holidays are great options for those who want to achieve a first-hand experience of a diverse vacation destination that is known for its exceptional mix of sun, beach, food, and history. If you want somewhere in the sun which kids can enjoy, but that also offers something that is stimulating for adults, then Turkey is a great place to go.

Izmir

This is the third largest city in the country and a great place for tourists to discover something of Turkish culture and its Greek past. There is a bus system which covers all of the city, but the central area is easy enough to simply walk around. The large bazaar is a must see destination where you can purchase all sorts of clothes, leather goods, spices and presents. Take a stroll along the waterfront where you can find old cobbled streets running off containing enticing eateries and tea houses in old buildings dating back to Ottoman times. Along the coast, you’ll find the main beach resorts of Cesme, Foca and Dikili. The sandy beaches are great for children and the water are gently shelved – perfect for toddlers.

Bodrum

This resort has reputation for liveliness and some people think it is best suited to young couples. Although some of the downtown area of Bodrum is certainly busy until the early hours, much of the resort is ideal for a family break in the sun. Just outside Bodrum you can discover the small but perfectly formed bay of Bardakci, where the waters area deep greeny-blue. Kids will enjoy the day playing on the beach and making sand castles. Adults will be able to enjoy a morning on the beach before selecting somewhere to have lunch in one of the many luxury hotel complexes.

Dalaman

Dalaman has some excellent traditional Turkish baths to enjoy, or if you fancy relaxing in another way, how about booking yourself in for a bit of massage therapy? Many of the hotels in the resort offer these sorts of services. Children will enjoy the broad beach which affords lots of opportunity for safe play, but they will also get a kick out of one of the organised boat trips that you can take part in.

Many of the luxury hotels in these Turkish resorts also offer kids clubs where they can mix with children of their own age. That means you can relax a bit, too. Wherever you choose to holiday in Turkey, you’re bound to find a place that suits children as well as adults.
