Special Feature: Products Sally Recommends
While I was lounging outside at the world class Monterey Bay Aquarium the waves came crashing down on the rocks below in a wonderful rhythm that created a relaxing environment. Off in the distance playful sea otters entertain themselves and create a beautiful nature scene.
As I closed my eyes, I thought I heard the sound of crack, crack, crack. I paid no attention to it, but then I heard it again. I opened my eyes to see an otter, on his back, cracking open a clam or shrimp shell. He repeatedly dove for more, surfaced, cracked, ate his meal and started the process all over again.
The aquarium itself is simple to describe — World Class. It is a delight for children and adults alike. When I was there the Shark exhibit was a marvelous sight and an educational experience. Called "Shark, Myth & Mystery," this exhibit will be open until September, 2006.
The entire Monterey Peninsula is known for its fabulous golf courses. Whether you choose the public or private courses, you won't be disappointed.
The Laguna Seca Race Track is home to some of the finest competitive and concourse race car events in the world. April 30-May 2 is the Road & Track U.S. Sports Car Invitational.
The town of Carmel is full of exciting shops, but the most unique surprise for many will be its small, but elegant library. A breakfast at The Tuck Box is a must where the scones are not to be missed.
Pacific Grove is known for its butterfly migration and calls itself the "Butterfly Capital of the world."
So when you are ready to relax, whether at a Bed and Breakfast or one of the many upscale hotels, Monterey is the RIGHT place to visit.
And remember, if you want outstanding Mexican food, Peppers, in Pacific Grove, should be at the top of your list.
