Legal Ruling in Chicago: A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit June 12th that had sought to reverse the city's ban on the sale of foie gras, reported the Chicago Sun Times. The day the ban went into effect--Aug. 22--the Illinois Restaurant Association and local restaurant Allen's New American Cafe filed a lawsuit claiming the city's ban on the legally produced product violated the state's constitution. The ordinance applies to retailers as well. (Gourmet News)
