Grocery Store News: Whole Foods has acquired Wild Oats Market in a $565 million deal. Founded in 1980 in Austin, Texas, Whole Foods Market had sales of $5.6 billion in fiscal year 2006 and has 307 stores in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. In related news, Whole Foods Market said it will sell all 35 Henry's and Sun Harvest stores and a Riverside, California, distribution center to a wholly owned subsidiary of Smart & Final Inc., a Los Angeles-based food retailer. The transaction is expected to close by late September. (GourmetNews.com)

Party Book: The Party Planner was written by David Tutera, a famous event planner who has a Discovery Channel show called The Party Planner with David Tutera. The large format and sumptuous illustrations do him proud as he profiles 10 specific parties, for which he designs the decorations. Top Aquarium for Kids in the U.S.: Parents Magazine has named the Monterey Bay Aquarium in Monterey, California the best aquarium for kids in the United States – the latest Top 10 honor for the acclaimed California aquarium. Food Identification: The Department of Agriculture's COOL (country-of-origin labeling) rules require identification only on fish and seafood and whether they were farmed or wild-caught. But beginning September 30th, rules are set to expand to cover beef, lamb, pork, peanuts, and fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables. The rules now apply only to retail goods, not foods sold at restaurants, and they don't apply to foods that are "substantially altered." USA Today
